About Proposition 65

California Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide warnings before knowingly exposing any individual to a chemical listed by the State of California as known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Products Covered

Many of our railroad strapping, tie-down webbing, and hardware products may contain materials that include listed chemicals such as:

  • Lead — may be present in metal hardware components, buckles, and ratchets
  • DEHP (Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate) — may be present in PVC-coated webbing or protective sleeves
  • Carbon Black — may be present in rubber or synthetic components

Minimizing Exposure

  • Wash hands thoroughly after handling straps, hardware, and tie-down equipment
  • Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth while handling products
  • Store products away from food preparation areas
  • Use gloves when handling metal hardware for extended periods
  • Keep products out of reach of children
